Hi, my name is Matt Friedman and I'm an avid outdoorsman. I love to document every adventure I go on and therefore I use Instagram to express myself the most. I love finding the best photo opportunities possible and then share them with the world. I really think about every post I make because I know that the people who follow me will judge me based off of each photo. I am the happiest when I'm surrounded by mountains or surfing my favorite break at Leo Carrillo State Beach in Malibu. As a result of this, most of my photos are either in the mountains or in the ocean. Those are my two worlds. My digital persona may sometimes stray away from my authentic self because I don't spend 100% of my time in the ocean or in the mountains. The other things in life just do not mean as much to me so i don't document them much. I believe that your digital persona should represent your most intense emotions. For me that is snowboarding an surfing.
Hey guys, I'm Harry Gooding. I am from San Francisco, California and am currently majoring in Environmental Studies.
I would consider my social media usage and presence to be pretty minimal. I do use Instagram and Snapchat but I tend to use them to see what other people are doing rather than posting or sharing what I am doing. I love to see what my friends from home are doing at their new homes in college and to check in with family to let them know how I am doing. In our generation, our lives revolve around our phones and social media. It has become the go to method of communication and interaction. I do think that it is a convenient and handy way to express yourself and talk to people, but it has become something that comes before face to face communication. As a result, there is a sort of pressure to keep up with social media and to compete for popularity. I find that this aspect of social media distracts from the original intention and the more fun and personal aspect of it. I think that things like Instagram should be used purely to express who you are and share things about ourselves that allow people to see the real you, with little to no regard for how many likes it may get or how many followers it might get you. I, personally, use things like Instagram to follow classmates and friends. However, I follow a lot of cars pages and outdoorsy nature pages. These are things that spark my interest and remind me of the things I love to do. So I think that of someone were to go and see who and what I follow they would see that it consists of things that do encapsulate who I am and what I love. As far as Snapchat, I tend to use it in the same way. I follow people who I want to keep up with and don't really pay attention to how many people add me or how many people I add. So, with all of that said, I think that my digital persona is one that accurately portrays my authentic self in a way that I am happy with. |
