I never realized writers can always have a voice. I assumed we weren't mature enough in writing to hold our own voice. The first thing you notice in a piece of writing is usually the title. I was hooked by titles that asked interesting questions or jumped out in any way. When my classmates used relevant statistics that were otherwise unknown intrigued me as well. What was most entertaining for me, was Matt's personal narrative about the "r word." If you connect with your audience through pathos, it can be very effective.
