I am so glad I had the opportunity to be in an English class with you all. In high school English courses, it was mostly the teacher lecturing at the class with only a few students replying to questions. We would do small group discussions, but often times the other group members had no interest in doing the class work to better themselves and would only meet the minimum requirement. After my first semester 105 sports literature course, I learned that at university students put more into a class conversation than in high school. Coming into this course I assumed that it would be a group of individuals who only spoke in class. I am proud of everyone in this course, because I know that each individual put in the time and effort to make their ideas known, disregarding the amount each individual talked. This made the course more interesting and easy for me to engage myself more in. A lot of the topics seemed boring to me at first, but once I heard others thoughts and opinions on the subject, the discussion would always become more interesting to me.
I am also very grateful for the welcoming environment that was created since the beginning of the course. This made it easier to enjoy others company and presence. The feedback I received from everyone was very helpful in growing my writing and discussion skills. By the end of the course I am sad to leave you all, and in a way you are my new English family that I will always remember freshman year by. I’m sure I will see you all again in passing or possibly in more courses. I will miss our class dynamic and fun times.
Thank you,
