Of course, minute rice is the most amazing thing in the world. You basically get rice in a minute! (minus the extra time it takes to actually get up and make it...) But you get my point! But now, there is something much bigger than that. The invention of this dish forever changed the culinary world... Yes, it is poke. Poke? Like the Facebook poke?...
Now what exactly is poke? In a general sense, it is ahi tuna that is either shredded or cubed, served in some sort of sauce (spicy, shoyu based, etc), and topped with various garnishes. Now what is so special about this? How did this change my life? Well as a matter of fact, one seafood store decided to serve poke on a bed of rice and call it a poke bowl. THAT'S IT! So simple, yet very exquisite...
My favorite type of poke is based off of your typical California hand roll. Cubed ahi tuna, imitation crab, cucumber, cubed avocado, and served in a sriracha-mayo sauce. All for just $6! Yes, when I found out that this existed, I ate a poke bowl at least twice a week! Nothing could keep me away from the amazing taste that a poke bowl has to offer (well, minus the slight chance that I could get mercury poisoning if I continued to eat ahi tuna this often). Thankfully, my mom caught on to my eating habits and realized I had also started to gain a little weight from constantly eating this! However, nothing will stop me from getting my hands on a poke bowl, except for the fact that I have to wait until I'm back home to get one!
