Last week I was hungry and did not want to go to the COG so I decided to drive to the closest Taco Bell. When I got there the vibe was as I expected, it was dirty, chairs were squeaky, floors were tiles. Being inside of the Taco bell felt like it was dis-empowering to those who worked there and ate there. You don’t get a positive vibe when you walk into taco bell. The food is in tubes and is squirted out so it makes the workers look like they are less powerful. When you are eating in a Taco Bell you don’t want to be there, you would rather be eating the food somewhere else.
The other hand is Chipotle, I went the other day because my friends and I have been to almost all food places around here. When you walk in it feels modern, the lights hang low from the ceiling. The walls have designs on them, the whole place is clean and simple looking. The two restaurants serve the same type of food yet they have two completely different vibes. The inside of Chipotle feels empowering for those eating there and those who work there. The restaurant is very nice looking and clean so it makes me want to eat there. The cooking station is right in front of you and you can see what is going on. Also the ingredients look fresh so it makes the workers look more professional compared to places where the food is not fresh.
I do understand what the man in the podcast was talking about. He mentioned the type of floors in the establishment and how that can change a person's view of the place. I chose to compare Taco Bell and Chipotle because they are basically the same thing, a mexican restaurant. Though they are the same they are presented very differently, one is inviting and one is not. One is clean and modern and one is dirty and has a basic design. These factors change the way we look at the places and the people that work there. It is the little things that shape our opinions of places and sometimes people.
