Both Jennifer Warner, and Megan Vokey, discuss the diminished self esteem of men after viewing advertisements. Warner focuses on the self esteem of men after viewing print advertisements and how that effects the mental health of men. Warner found that after viewing said advertisements, men were left feeling depressed and unsatisfied with their appearance. This injury to their mental health led men to behaviors that harm their own bodies, such as exercising excessively, using steroids, and the development of eating disorders.
