While the American Dream, statistically, is no longer plausible for the growing majority of people in our nation, it still remains a beacon of hope. I'm not saying that we should trash the idea of the AD altogether, because it's better than a feeling of failure and no hope for the future. What needs to stop is believing that everyone in this nation has equal opportunity to become successful. That mindset is what is continually contributing to the inequality gap of race, class, gender and sexual orientation.
I strongly recommend everyone watch the documentary "Inequality for All" at some point in their lives. It will truly change your opinion on the different gaps in our nation and why the American Dream is no longer viable to 'everyone'.
