The year is coming to a close and we are all filled with a plethora of emotions. We are packing our room, taking our last tests, turning in our last homework assignments, and sleeping our last nights in the jail-cell looking dorm rooms we have called home for the past 9 months.
Thinking back on my academic experience this semester, this English class stands out. The days with peer evaluating and Socratic Seminars enhanced my learning. In regard to the small groups for forum presentations, I learned a few things which I can apply in the future. One, listening. Listening was a major part of group forum coordination since there were 4 other opinions to take into consideration. Second, dealing with different personalities. As a high school student, I did a lot of group work, but it was different because I always knew the people in my group very well--making it easy to handle issues. In this class, since I did not know everyone to the best of their nature, I had to adjust. Thank you for helping me tighten the skills necessary for successful coordination.
Listening to different points of view has opened my eyes to the different thresholds I can explore in the future. I have become educated by my peers(different race, religion, socio-economic status, etc.) and it has encouraged me to ask questions and be curious. Thank you again. This helped me in the writing and researching aspect because like I mentioned, it ingrained in me to ask questions, be curious, and find an answer(whether right or wrong or completely different).
Delving into the different mediums for communication and writing has helped me identify my strengths in writing and find ways to better those strengths even further.
Thank you , thank you, thank you for pushing my limits. It has been a great semester and I look forward to seeing you all next fall around campus!
