I think that the American Dream is a concept that society has developed solely on the basis of the success and prosperity that followed after WW2 and during the 70s especially. This concept was real to those who experienced it and were successful. However, many Americans and immigrants coming to America had the same desires as most, but never were able to attain the American Dream. My philosophy is that if you work hard and put in the work, that the "American Dream" is attainable. As much as I would like this to be true all the time, it really isn't. There are tons of immigrants who work as hard, if not harder, than the rich and still don't make a decent living. For me personally, my American Dream is to be able to do something I love and be able to support myself and a family comfortably while doing it. This isn't much different than what most people want, but the reality is that it just isn't that easy to do anymore.
