It was on a Sunday, January 18, 2015 to be exact. On that date Tom Brady and the New England Patriots trounced the Indianapolis Colts 45-7 in the AFC Championship, sending Tommy B to another Super Bowl. Earlier that Sunday the Seattle Seahawks had beaten the Green Bay Packers, after a miraculous come back by the Seahawks. The stage was set. Super Bowl 49 would be the Patriots vs. Seahawks. Being a Patriots fan in the greater Seattle area, I knew I was greatly outnumbered so I was pretty quite. I knew Seahawk fans were very passionate and I had some respect for them since my family are fans, but I was surprised by how many fans went out of there way to say something to me. Though most of the people that said things to me were from my high school, occasionally when I'd wear Patriot gear in public complete strangers would say things to me. Those two weeks in between the AFC and NFC Championship and the Super Bowl were tough. I chose to take another route and ignore the Seahawk fans. During this time my perception of Seahawk fans began to change. Originally I saw Seahawk fans as people who deeply loved their team, yet were still somewhat respectful towards other teams that weren't rivals of the Hawks. Finally it was the day of the Super Bowl. I had about 10 people over to my house for the game, and of course I was the lone Pats fan. My emotions were everywhere as both teams battled hard for the Lombardi trophy. The game came down to wire as the Seahawks had the ball on the Patriot's four yard line, and looked poised to win the game. Rather than run the ball with Marshawn Lynch, they decided to throw the ball. Luckily Patriot's cornerback Malcom Butler jumped the route and intercepted the football. This sealed the game. The Patriots beat the Seahawks 28-24, adding another trophy to the collection. Since the game went as it did, I told myself that I wouldn't flaunt it in any of the Seahawk fan's faces. As I arrived to school the next day, I was met by outraged Seahawk fans telling me that I couldn't say anything about the game, since the Hawks passed the ball instead of running it. This was the deal breaker. After that my mind was officially changed, Seahawk fans are disrespectful.

Yes, because the Patriots have been endlessly magnanimous over the past 15 years and were ever so gracious after losing to the Giants. /s

I am not a Seahawks fan (or follower of football in general) but it seems you are making incorrect assumptions about all Seahawks fans based off of just a few. This change seems uninformed. Please reconsider your generalizations, and you will find yourself impressed by the maturity and genuineness of Seahawks (and all football) fans.

There are so many interesting ideas being introduced here! It reminds me of a student who, for an assignment on putting oneself in a "fish out of water" situation, wore a Santa Clara shirt to a Gonzaga v. Santa Clara basketball game a few years back. It should be stated that he was a die-hard Gonzaga fan and came here mostly because of the basketball team. So, wearing the shirt, he thought that people would be rude to him, but that his friends would still be happy to have him to sit with them, knowing he was wearing the shirt as an experiment. But when he went to sit in the student section, his friends told them (seriously) they were uncomfortable sitting with him and if he wouldn't mind sitting somewhere else. When he laughed it off, they flat out told him to get out of the student section. As he made his to the back of the section, he was met jeers and a few threats of violence. He said it changed the way he saw his school, his friends, and even the basketball culture on campus.
