Hillary Clinton: Clinton is against Obama’s policy regarding Cuba because they are holding America back from the “boarder agenda across Latin America”.
Jeb Bush: Bush thinks that Obama has made a mistake in his policy regarding Cuba.
Lindsey Graham: Graham called Obama’s change in Cuba policy a bad idea. If elected as president, Graham vowed to block the use of federal funds to open an embassy in Cuba.
Bobby Jindal: Like many Republicans Jindal thinks Obama is rewarding the Castro family with his policy change. Jindal thinks that the Obama’s new policy will endanger national security and American citizens.
Ted Cruz: Is against lifting the embargo with Cuba. He thinks that the Castros are playing us to maintain in power.
The presentation was my first exposure to the history of Cuba (how it became the country it is today), their politics and what our options are as America. I like how Obama is trying to assist Cuba in rebuilding the country. I am not sure of Obama’s specific policy changes, but I believe America should slowly become involved and not come in all at once. By doing this we can weigh our options and see the progress or lack of progress with our involvement.
