With all the dangers that come along with posting personal pictures or writing on the internet, I try my best to use social media simply to learn about other people and express myself to others. In an interview, Germany Kent stated, “Social media is your platform to build a unique fan base while you express yourself exactly how you see yourself. Build wisely”. I think that this quote is very similar to my own beliefs about the internet. While we aim to grab our audience’s attention through our content, I believe that we should always stay true to the person we are on an everyday basis.
Hey everyone! My name is Ava Welch, I’m from Seattle, Washington and here at Gonzaga I’m studying elementary education and I hope to be a kindergarten teacher. Although I’m not a big social media user, I do have many accounts on sites such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook that I visit and post on every once in a while. Today, the internet can have many negative aspects so I try to have my personal social media accounts simply reflect who I am, my passions, and my beliefs. Along with working with kids, I’m very passionate about traveling as well as helping people in any way that I can. For example, I love posting pictures from family vacations like when my family went to France or service projects, especially when they involve mentoring young kids. Due to that, I follow accounts that have a positive impact on the internet and ones that inspire me to make a positive impact as well. Along with this, on the internet, I only follow people that I have a personal relationship rather than companies or celebrities that often are aiming for popularity. I believe that content is more effective than the amount of viewers or followers that one individual has. When I post my own content on the internet, my audience is purely my family and friends whom I want to stay connected with. Lastly, I believe that my digital persona is very similar to who I am in person. My content reflects my passions for making a positive impact on other people’s lives as well as my love for my family and friends.
