One thing that makes Pearl Jam such great artists is their ability to appeal to a wide variety of emotions. Whether I'm happy, sad, angry, or any type of emotion, Pearl Jam has a song that appeals to it. This is what makes Pearl Jam so unique compared to other musical artists. I've noticed that many musicians today write songs about the material things in life, rather than the ups and downs that life presents us with. As a music listener I appreciate Pearl Jam's ability to create meaningful music about the struggles and high points of everyday life.
Another reason why Pearl Jam is so good, is because their music transcends both religion, and race. Unlike many American musicians, Pearl Jam's music has reached people world-wide. Not only do they tour in the United States, but they also make trips to Europe, Asia, South America, and India. As a listener of music, I believe that the more people an artists can reach, the more talented they are. With Pearl Jam falling in this category, it just goes to show the power their music possesses. Pearl Jam's music can appeal to someone like me living in Spokane, Washington, but it also can appeal to a farmer living in South America.
With my freshman year coming to an end in less than two weeks, I can honestly that Pearl Jam helped me get through it all. Pearl Jam's music not only enjoyable to listen to, but also inspired me to push through any obstacles in my way in order to succeed. I highly suggest that if you haven't already listened to Pearl jam, that you immediately do so.
Reflection: I believe that my argument was original, because as I read my classmates blog posts, none of them talked about music. Along with that, in my blog post I related how Pearl Jam helped me through the struggles of my first year of college, something many students can relate too. Also the reasons I gave to why Pearl Jam is such a great band are somewhat unique. Many times I feel people base how good musicians are based off of the success or what they see on social media. While I also do this too, this blog post allowed me to step-back and look at the important side of music, the meaning of the songs and the people it influences.
