The revision process for this paper began with Will Foley and I reading each other’s papers, and making any corrections we thought were needed. When I revised my paper many of the changes were small ones, like word choice or restructuring sentences. I chose to follow the corrections Will suggested because I had noticed them as well when I finished my first draft. I also added more content to the paper as I saw that it would enhance the article, and make it more interesting. I felt that the corrections I made created a more interesting article to read, while also making it easy for non-basketball fans to understand the purpose of my article.
Personally, I really enjoyed writing this article, because throughout my entire life I’ve always enjoyed sports, so to have the opportunity to write on it in college is great. I felt like I did a good job structuring the article, in the sense that this article is something you’d find in ESPN the magazine or Sports Illustrated. With content I felt I did a good job not only using an example, but also using quotes from people affiliated with both the NCAA and NBA. This way even if you don’t know a ton about the topic, you are able to still follow along. Overall I felt like I did a solid job on this unessay, because I bring up an interesting stance combining college and professional basketball with education. On top of that, comparing my sports article to other sports articles mine mirrors the structure, but also showcases my thoughts on this subject.
· With regard to the medium I’m using for the unessay, many sports articles only indent the first paragraph. Since my unessay is a sports article, should I follow the general conventions of an essay or mock the style of a sports article?
· Do you think that using Greg Oden as an example for showing the possible downward spiral a player’s career can face as a “one and done” is effective in getting my point across?
· I wasn’t able to find much on how to correctly title a sports article, so I just followed how ESPN does theirs. Do you know if that is correct?
